Fiction writer, poet, scholar in Caribbean Studies, with particular interest in marronage in Caribbean fiction, and emerging interest in how Caribbean artists -- writers and filmmakers -- are responding to the humanistic implications of neoliberalism, state capture, and the effects of humanitarianism as it seeks to fill the broken social contract produced by structural adjustment. Have a mystery novel addiction -- reading and writing -- and a draft of a novel on sex tourism in the Caribbean. On an ongoing quest for ways to become, and to help my students become, savvy and critical navigators and creators of better worlds, virtual and material.
